When I did the first overland trip in mine. I installed a tach where the speedo was. Shifting wasn't the issue. With all the gear noise, things banging and vibration, I couldn't tell where I was maxing out my RPM while cruising. Using the GPS speedo on my phone was just wearing me out. I'd figured 2,500 RPM was 45 and just set the engine at that.
