Been getting so sick with my COPD that The had me on 3 inhalers just to breath but yet 4 days ago I could hardly walk to my shop and spent 95% of the day in my chair watching TV. 2 months ago they added Spiriva to the mess of drugs I take to get better. I really thought this was it I could do nothing and just about on the strongest stuff they could give me. Prednisone treatments one after another, antibiotics that almost killed me so now I have Epee pen! So my regular doctor made me a appointment for lung functions testing. This guy has done mine 2 times before when I still smoked. See I quit 2 + years ago cause my VA Doctor was so sad I was dyeing because of smoking and he liked me. He said it was to late to stop the damage was to much and even more Prednisone could not stop it so I had hit stage 5 in his mind. I told him I will quit and did. Wow lungs started to clear up and I was feeling better. I wanted to get off the 4 plus Hydrocodone's I was taking for pain since now after 5 plus years of taking them I was now using 7.5s and could drive still? He said try pot it is legal in our state and way better then the pain meds? So I started smoking pot still taking the pain meds till a emergency room told me to go home an take more pills! Now that really pissed me off and that night I stopped them and sat in the bathroom for at least 24 hours dumping my guts and cussing those pills every time! No way was I going to take another one. But I still was smoking pot and the lungs went south fast once more. The new Outside Doctor on the VA Choice Program let me use regular doctors. They fixed my Pancreas in 1 1/2 hours after over 5 years of suffering and not able to eat good food dealing with the way the VA felt about it just take Creon Pig Ensigns and live with it. There $1,000.00 and month for almost 5 years! Back to the lungs nothing was working and the Spiriva was wiping me out. So I quit pot to see if it helped and I quit coughing? Went on line read everything I could on them and COPD, Drug Side effects ect and boy all the drugs I was taking had common side effects I was suffering from! So 4 days ago I could not walk 100 ft with out shaking stumbling and thinking strange? I had nothing to lose seeing my Lung Doctor in 3 days I quit all my drugs, steroids ect cold turkey. I mean every drug I was on I stopped which was a stupid idea to do not asking my doctor or weaning myself off them. With in 2 days I could breath again? I could walk better so I though I should see what I could do now. I walked slowly but did a mile for the first time in a lot of years!! Now I was excited did a bunch more tests and found out I could hold my breath for 75 secs with out any pain or hyper ventilating! Before I could almost do 10 seconds. I used to freak out if I let the air out of my lungs and did not put new air in right away. So sitting in my chair I blew out all my air I could and held it that way for 22 seconds it blew me away. My O2 reading were 94-96 and sometimes 98% at rest around 94%. The lung doctor did my Lung Function Tests today and they were Normal for a 66 year old guy and said I did not have COPD anymore. He had 2 tests from the past to compare it to when I was a heavy smoker!! He did my test 3 times cause this does not happen to somebody who had COPD for over 8 years! I feel great having a second chance in life! I am now working out the little cancer issue if it is cancer and it can just be cut out of me. A tube that went from my Bladder to my Belly Button during my 9 months in my Mother? It should been gone but it wasn't. This is rare an can be removed easy if it has cancer in the little spot there looking at. Just need to clean up my Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver since I have not drank in 32 years and my damaged kidneys from all the drugs they pumped down me in 8-10 years. The kidneys are at 50% but can be made a little better with diet ect liver too. That is about it and I am going to start exerting myself to higher levels ever day I can to try to get back to like a 50 year old once more! Those were my golden years to me!!!
