Hmm, I recently drained the float bowls on a motorcycle that had been wrecked and stored in a shed for 21 years, and the gas that came out was a bit thick, but still drained out. Doubt if it would have been good to make the engine run.
On the other hand, I recently started up a car that had been sitting for 5-6 years behind a shop, and it ran well on the old gas in the tank.
I would think that an engine with low compression and conservative timing would be able to accept older gas better, as the volatility of gas decreases with age.
