Chances are very little grease got into the shoes, they are pretty dense. I use lacquer thinner to clean brake shoes and drums. I put shoes that have been drenched in oil and grease into a small aluminum pan and soak them in lacquer thinner for a couple hours. Then I clean them gently with a wire brush. The shoes look and work great after this. Done it many times.
Just keep the pan of lacquer thinner outside, etc.
