Yep, can't really complain about a connection taking almost 60 years to go bad, although I don't think it's the original alternator. From now on, though, if I have one apart for any reason, I'll solder up the wires properly.
Got any pictures of your new truck? Would like to see them.
I need some springs for mine. After the last few trips, the left rear has sagged so much that it's sitting on the overload spring all the time, while the right rear is up nice and perky like it should be. Probably don't have enough money now to have a shop (Pohl Spring?) re-arc them.
I have to say the leaning tower of power works pretty hard in that truck. If I'm going to keep using it as a work truck, it may be time to admit that the '65 1/2 ton is a parts truck at this point and swap in the 440 out of it. Same tranny, so I wouldn't even have to separate them.
