Good news is, I took a look at my pitman arm ball and axle steering arm ball last night and I think they are in pretty good shape. Both look and feel very smooth and clean, with no divots, no flat spots, no corrosion, no scoring or gouges, etc. When I measured the pitman arm ball in the primary wear direction, it was 0.990". I don't know what it's supposed to be, but when I measured it across the non-wear surfaces, the measurement was only about 0.001" larger, so about 0.991". That seems really good to me.
When I measured the steering knuckle arm ball, it was something like 0.979 across the wear surfaces and 0.983 across the non-wear surfaces, so about 0.004" difference. Not sure if that's bad or not, but doesn't seem too bad to me. I think I will run them. I wasn't having any particular problem with the drag link, but figured I'd take it apart to inspect it while I am doing so much other stuff in that part of the truck.
