So, I changed the starter on my WM300, first attempt at starting it turned the engine over good and almost started the engine but didn't have quite enough gas to get her going.
Then on second attempt, the starter motor turns but the engine does not. Like the pinion isn't engaging.
The flywheel has it's teeth, none ground or broken off.
The grease on the drive pinion is how it came and I left it as such. I was told NOT to bench test it before installation as it would make it useless.
So, I don't know what happened? Should I have cleaned that old grease off the starter drive first anyways?
