Russel, here is an image of a NOS thermostat for our Power-Wagons. I removed the rubber gasket to better illustrate the photo. The red arrows point to the surfaces of the thermostat and the housing that both contact and slightly compress the rubber gasket. The green arrows point to the recess in the housing that accepts and aligns the lip on the thermostat, and the lip on the thermostat itself. Also shown in the upper view is a wire passing through the stock "burp" hole in the housing. I personally would not drill a hole in the thermostat plunger (as suggested by some) as the stock housing already has this hole factory drilled.
