So, as I'm sure you all remember, the hollow carriage bolt that holds the blackout marker lights on. I'd broken one, asked about it, yada yada yada.. I was stuck and Daryl in Oz said.. "Get a long one and lop off the threaded end then rethread the shank."

Went to the hardware store to buy a long one. 99% are now threaded all the way. I found one about 9" long that I could cut the end off.
A boat builder friend in town let me use his lathe to cut the head down. Drill it out, face to length and get my 5/16 die started.
Took it home, finished threading it, sand blasted it, then...
ZINC PLATED IT!
Ta da!
Yah, yeah, I know. Easy peasy. But I am proud of that little part and I had to show it to someone.
