The battery on my 283 V-8 powered 1947 WDX PW is mounted on two 1" x 2" wood strips and bolted to the driver's side running board just ahead of the rear fender. It is a custom made tool box that was on a old PW fire engine. It fits nicely in the space between the forward rectangular channel on left front corner of the PU box and the left rear fender. It sits about 1 inch away from the side of the pickup bed so the top hinged lid can flip up and back to access the battery. Use two jeep hood hold downs to keep the lid tight, mounted to the short front and rear sdies of the rectangular box.
