My reccomendation is to just weld your clunker gear up solid, essentially making it the same part as is found in the NP200.
We did that to mine in Iowa this June and it made a world of difference. Didn't even have to drop the case, or even drain it as the clunker gear is above the oil level. Just pulled the e brake and the housing behind the e brake and out it came.
