Front driveshaft installation?

Got the intermediate shaft in, rear driveshaft in but now the front driveshaft, I can't compress it enough to get the u-joint cups over the little forks on the yoke.

Is there some trick to this I'm missing? I've loosened the shaft seal and I can slide it in and out. I can even hear a click when it bottoms out, but still I can't make it short enough.

Anyone?
