1/2t used the same shaft front and rear, PWs use a lots longer rear. But if it's not the usual PW, you may have them mixed up.

I think Willy N's pic is an extreme lot of spline showing, but it also looks like a re-done, with that fat weld. Old trucks with a flat front spring pack don't need much slip.
