One other benefit of an ARB is that because it's a whole new center section it does make setup of a new ring & pinion easier, it also eliminates having to rebuild the spider gear assembly, which is not the easiest thing to do on the Dodge axles.
I paid a $200 or so to have the front spider assembly rebuilt in my truck by Charles Talbert, plus shipping both ways. The rear I just dropped in the ARB out of the box. The Lock-Rite is the same rebuilt cost plus the upgrade.
The ARB is still a lot more money, but it does bring some other benefits. Before VPW started selling them you used to be able to get a deal if you waited for the right time. I got mine on sale and he threw in the small air compressor with the deal. It was still over $1k, but I still saved a few hundred in the deal.
