My dad is 90 and was in the Navy at the end of WWII, did not see action but studied RADAR. Most of his stories were of being in the Military and the home front. I just finished watching Ken Burns WWII documentary. I found myself getting choked up on several occasions. I always have the question, how would I have handled it. My wife is Vietnamese. What she had to go through with the war and escaping with her life in peril, makes my life look like a walk in the park. i guess I am fortunate not to have had to be in their position, but i do wake up often hoping I would have been a good person, a person who did his duty as much as war allows.
