You need warm vinegar ( doesn't matter if it is real, or the cheap acetic acid substitute ) and as much salt as you can dissolve in the vinegar, then just drop the item in. Have a look to see how you can immerse the terminals without getting water in the rest of the switch.
It won't take long, overnight is more than enough, but when you do take the item out give it a good wash to get rid of the acid residue and coat it with some metal polish, oil, or grease or it will oxidise again rapidly..
