Ok, I wasn't sure if the NP420 would be stronger than the old crash box. I kind of assumed it would be, since it was mated up with the 251, but maybe that was just to improve the driveability of the truck in the later years.

Also, good thought from you and Manny on the 2-barrel carb. I had wondered about the difficulty in tuning two carbs to run at the same time.
