all the ffpw have the same drivetrain except later ones have an NP420 trans and 251. it is not stronger than the stock crash box 4 speed. the reason dodge kept the crash box 4 speed till 55 or so is because it is the strongest design. cant beat straight cut gears for reliability. you can still buy big rigs with straight cut gear trannies I believe.
I agree with Manny on the carb. a single 2 barrel much less tuning than 2, l barrels.
