Check to see if you have 12V current at coil from ignition switch. If current good, check for 12V current at distributor. When the 12V current delivered to points opens, or collapses It causes the high voltage end of coil to give pulse.
If you have 12V current to distributor but no points arc, check for grounding of points at wire connection.
