Cleaning points with a file ect is a tempory fix. You remove the silver surface on the points and they will burn up fast. Best to just put new ones in. In the old days it was common to do this as money was short and you needed to keep things running. Points are a cheap part to replace and what you lose in fuel economy will buy you several sets over time. Condensers/capacitors either work or they don't no in-between if the spark is not nice and blue and snappy time for a new one.
