Starter? issue

Help guys! Still tying up loose ends on my 51 FFPW and wired the headlights yesterday. It's been running for a year, but Tried to start the truck today and NOTHING. Not even a grunt. Repeated tries then one good brief turnover. But then repeatedly NOTHING, Checked all connections from battery to starter. All OK. 12 volts measured at starter. Even tried with a jumper directly on the starter. Not looking forward to pulling the starter, which is the original foot stab actuator type. Any suggestions?
