Well, I've been enjoying getting used to driving my FFPW. Short trips (2-5 miles) at a time to gain confidence and make sure everything is working as it should. I've also been slowly getting it up to speed (43 mph is the high so far).
Everything seemed to be fine until I went to drive it the other day. Noticed a puddle under the rear diff. Yep, the pinion seal gave way. So, I need to replace it.
I've read a lot of threads on replacing the seal and decided to go with Charles Talbert's kit. I'm doing both the front and the rear diffs while I'm at it.
Any suggestions on removing the seals? I tried drilling holes and tapping them for a puller. However, the puller just pulled right out of the tapped holes. I did manage to get the inner part out leaving the outer part of the seal. It has not moved at all.
Also, there are screws in the top edge of the diffs that appear to be set screws for the seals? I have removed them but am unsure of their purpose?
As usual, all comments and suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks,
Clark
