David Sherman's post reminded me of a great little Model 22 Cat I used to own. It had a gas engine, so had no pony motor.
It seems parts or replacements for the pony motors for the D models are about as scarce as hens' teeth.
You may already have thought about this, but a Google search showed some interesting conversions to electric start that might be considered, in order to salvage an otherwise inoperable machine.
