I have heard a rule of thumb is 10 lbs of oil pressure per 1000rpms.
I had a web site that discussed oil and pressure and volume and yes you can get too much pressure. Volume is better then overall pressure I think. I mean you have to have both but think about it. I cant seem to find the web site now. Will have to dig around but think about it this way. Get you an ice cold milkshake and try to empty the cup as fast as you can. You are gonna have very high pressure through the straw with a certain amount of volume.
Now do the same thing with cold water. Your face probably isnt gonna turn as red from sucking on the straw and you will have lots more water. Lower pressure but better volume. Through out all this you have both pressure and volume.
Now take a big gulp of steaming hot coffee and then yell yikes and grab something cool to help cool off your mouth. In this situation ( and we all have burned out mouth on something) what do you want now the cold milkshake (thats got high pressure but low volume) or the cold water cup and straw (lower pressure but more cold water to cool your tongue)?!
This same theory of mine can be applied to different wieghts of oil. Just because you have 80lbs of pressure running 20w50 may be worse for your engine then running 10w40 at 50lbs of pressure. If your engine is wore internally the heavier wieght oil just takes of the slack of the bearing clearances giving you better oil pressure.
There has to be a happy medium for both.
I'll see if I can locate this web site and the information.
I am sure we can debate all of this for a week.
As for your 400 I wouldnt worry about your oil pressure. My 440 is about the same as yours. In the summer heat 100+ and after pulling my tractor on a trailer my 440 will idle hot at 30-40.
