Over 300 HP can be rung from the 258! The weak link in the 300 is the fiber timing gear. All of the ones in my companies trucks broke. Other than that, the 300 was probably better than the 302 V-8 as far as mileage and power goes, BUT my 258 will run circles around both of them. Do you know how they compare in lenght??
