A friend of mine has a 1960 Power Wagon with the original 230 and 411 gearing ( axle swap ). The truck is severely under powered. It will not rev above 2000 rpm in fourth gear.
My opinion is that the 230 doesn't have what it takes for this application , even with performance up grades I feel it would still be under powered.
The truck I speak of has 35 inch tires.
For the gearing you want to use and wanting the truck to be a daily driver I think a V8 would be in order.
Just my opinion others my disagree.
