See if you can get to the rheostat, squirt a little WD-40 into it, and work it back and forth a few times. Not that an off-road truck ever gets dust in the cab (?), but it could just be dirty or corroded, and the WD may take care of it. As a point-of-interest, many people do not know that WD-40 was NOT formulated to loosen stuck nuts and bolts, but as a dryer/cleaner/lubricant for electrical components.
