There was a fellow in Penfield 30 years ago (mad scientist) experimenting with making a superior bondo product. It was fun to watch him with his 50 quart Hobart mixer putting products together.
As I recall the micro balloon product was nice, but had some adhesion issues using polymeric resin, due to shrinkage. Last I knew he was talking attempting to make a micro balloon product with epoxy resin for a smaller shrinkage.

I also became sufficiently disenchanted with application of liquid coating (paint) that I grew a full beard partially to preclude respirator fit and have for years claimed I can't paint because of the beard. It's worked well for me.
