I left about 3" between the tires and the underside of the bedwood. I wanted it as low as possible, for obvious reasons.
I loaded it with sand last winter, full width and length and about 3 1/2' deep in the center. The tires just rubbed on the turn up our driveway.
Now I see I will likely have to raise it a couple of inches if I want to haul loads like that regularly.
