Run DISK CLEANUP from win 98 if you have it. This will dump some of the junk files that procreate faster than rats.
On your aol sign in screen check your access numbers. Select your local numbers that are V90. That's the fastest. I travel around the US and overseas. I often find that other US and Canadian cities have much faster connections than my house. (Phone lines around here run at a measly 22,000.)
AOL flies in San Diego and also Toronto. Go figure...
In all fairness to you, aol still has rolling slowdowns in areas to inspire you to log off. Rest assured AOL will continue to lockup your pooter, cut you off, not let you upload large files, and generally piss you off.
