Manny, if you can sweat copper pipe you can fix the tank. I would avoid the sealants, I've always been disappointed with them over time.
As others have said get everything super clean, including opening the seam a bit and cleaning inside. Use 50/50 solder, since it flows better and is less brittle than tin/antimony. A small acetylene torch will work great, and you can regulate your heat more easily than with a hand-held propane tank torch. Good Luck!
