An elevator engineer buddy tells me they use it for elevators on those 1km tall buildings. It has less stretch that steel, so less elevator bounce. But that is a sheltered environment. Mountain climbers consider abrasive dirt to be the #1 enemy of synthetic ropes.
Hmm, I wonder if the lesser stretch would mean less whipping around when it does snap?
