It has been my limited experience that when an ordinarily knowledgable person knows nothing about a certain product, they really tend to short-change it, and will hold stead-fast until shown the error of thier ways. My father bought a 1970 Scout 800A Aristocrat a few months prior to my birth. When it came time, years later to do repairs, he recieved such a hard time from mechanics who had absolutly no knowledge of Scouts, IHC, or as far as that goes, any interest. He was told repeatedly that parts could not be found, etc. Well, as anyone who has done a little research knows, the Scout's drivetrain was made by the same manufacturers of the "big 3" drivetrain...Spicer, etc. (Pop was told once that it was a special International-Harvester transmission..as well as various other fibs)
What i am getting at, is that you may need to seek advice from individuals who have knowledge of the Cummins 4BT...I have heard much about that motor, and the words "Not powerful enough" never had been associated with that motor until I read your post.
Best Regards
