If you're trying to crank it through jumper cables, that's probably your problem right there. It takes mighty heavy jumper cables to truly crank an engine over. The ordinary "booster" cables only work in conjunction with a vehicle that already has a battery in it. They'll charge it enough and give it enough extra juice through the cables to start a vehicle that has a weak battery, but they won't generally crank a full-size engine over all by themselves. But you'll feel better having the starter properly tested, too.
