We use conversion guns in our custom furniture business. So far Binks and Sharpe but I've heartd only good stuff about Harbor Freight's at about 1/5 the cost. I'd try a cheepie for the primer, by then you'll learn how and whether.
If you can't buy a book, try the library, it'll help a lot if you can't spend a couple years hanging around the body shop.
