I pulled the pan and there was a 1/8" of sludge in the bottom. Then I pulled the oil pick up tube screen and it was almost blocked with grit. I pulled main bearings 2 and 3, no copper showing bit small pits in the bearings. I was told the bearings needed to be replaced but that probably was'nt the problem. I figured it was the pick up tube si I cleaned and replaced the screen and pan. Started the truck up and had the same problem, extremely low oil pressure at idle when it warmed up and never going over 30 psi with throttle. I have 2 spare industrial 230 motors in my shop so I replaced the oil pump. Same problem with both spares so the pump is not it. I pulled the oil relief valve, The spring was bent and the plunger came out hard. It was the small type plunger. Both my Ind. 230's have the large type. I cleaned up the old plunger and replaced the spring with a green one (hi press) from a spare block that looked fairly new. Oil pressure was a little bit better but still abyssimal. Somewhere in there I also cleaned the oil filter bowl and replaced the sock element with a NAPA #1100, and put in a new gauge. I've checked everything external and looked at the main bearings. I belive the problem to be spun or worn cam bearings because it's the only thing I havent been able to check (although the mains are marginal).

Now then, the big problem. I have to make a decision quick like because thr trail ride is coming up in less than a week. Do I replace the motor with a industrial 230 that I've never heard run. Or do I put the PW aside and weld the frame and put in a new alternator on "THE BLUE BEAST" my M-37 and prepare that truck for the trailride?

Time is getting short....
