Sounds like you just ruined two batteries. (I hope not)
I think that you either have a major internal short in the starter motor or some mechanical engine problem which makes the engine very hard to turn. I favor the first explanation.
A short in the heavy starter circuit would probably overheat the battery and cause internal damage. A jammed or nearly-jammed starter might do the same thing although I think it would take longer.
Why do I say this?
1) When you put the battery in the car that starts well, it didn't work. This suggests that the battery is not healthy. You said that it is charged. It probably has an internal short.
2) The battery from the car developed the same symptoms after trying it in the truck. That sounds like it, too was damaged after the test.
3) If the above are correct, we need to ask what could damage a battery. A small electrical problem (for example, a short in the ignition system) couldn't do that. It would have to be something big. By far, the biggest circuit in a vehicle is the one that runs the starter. I think it would be worthwhile to remove the starter and inspect it and have someone properly equipped check it out.
What do you think, guys? Make sense?
