THAT IS EXACTLY WHY WE USE A MEDIA and NOT Silica! Those white 3M masks ARE NOT for Silica, you could be seriously harming yourself. Use silver sand, media or get yourself a respirator!!! This is no joke. If you smoke there is an 85% chance of contracting lung cancer from the silica, during prolonged exposure. If you don't smoke the odds drop to 30-40% STILL not good!
