About a year ago I stood in the rain for an hour to discover that a manual bellhousing from a '72 van 318 would not fit a '60 Poly 318! The bottom holes on each side did not line up and the dowel pins were each at least an inch off. I suspect the bolt pattern on the polys may have been changed in '62 when the gear reduction starter was introduced. The older polys (my '60's) were the same as the early hemis, however.
