A WC26 IS a military truck and that is what he was talking about. The VIN IS a plate that IS handstamped and is normally riveted to the glove box door. That is what is shown in my picture. A few screws and the hole door comes off.
I don't really think swapped vehicle data tags/VIN tags were a priority when these were being produced. Just trying to set the record straight and stop misinformation from being spread. They should also have the same number HAND stamped into the frame. it normally is very light and hard to see.
You never say never with Dodge but I have yet to see a machine stamped VIN number on a 1941 military.
You may have to educate the CHP officer if need be.
