rear outer bearing tight on spindle threads

I have moved to the rear axles. On one side the 8 point nuts came of easy enough but the hub was stuck when the outer bearing got to the threads. I had to use the hub like a slide hammer to get the bearing passed the threads. I got it off without too much trouble. The threads look good and a brand new nut does not start easily and i have to be very careful to keep from cross threading it. It is as if the threads are slightly rounded or there is a high spot somewhere. I am worried about reassembling and i do not want to bugger the threads. Any suggestions? Thanks
