Battery tenders work well, but get a decent one, the cheap HF ones aren't worth the money savings.

I would recommend checking water levels though if they've sat charged for a long time. One of the cells went bad in my Desoto and it boiled it dry, exploded the battery when I went to start it after sitting for a few months. Espeicially if it's an older battery.

When I had to go out of town for work for a few months I put one on a timer for my daily driver's battery so it only came on for an hour a day or so.

Optima batteries are better about dead drain, Optima recommends not putting them on float unless they will sit for more than a year, which is why I liked them for my antique.
