What is trick to removing door latch from WC-12

I'm having trouble removing the door latch from both doors of my '42 Dodge 1/2ton WC-12. The latch part that sticks thru the door facing will not clear inside glass channel. The end that goes thru the inside of the door that is attached to the inside door handle comes off with a 90 degree twist. Does the other end of the shaft to the outside door latch come off also? If so, I believe the outside latch would clear the channel that appears to be rivited into the inside of the door. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
