I have never seen that point in any books written about Dodge Trucks, but I think after trying a straight-eight in 1934, Dodge truck division stayed with a more conservative approach to horsepower by progressive improvements on our beloved L-head six. How great to have the old 377 cu in twin carburetor dual exhaust version in a PW!!!.
Also, these trucks were no nonsense work vehicles built for hauling cargo.
A longer nose would have subtracted from the payload area, hence less cargo. V-8 development was on the drawingboard during this time and replaced the flathead 8s in passenger cars beginning in 1951. Anybody else with an opinion?
