Been at this for 40 years and have pulled apart tons of motors - the bearing are grey at 10 at 100 at 1000 at 100000 miles - unless they are worn out . Gotta be a few exceptions out there and the surface is not lead but i have yet to see any friction bearings for a vehicle motor that were not lead . Did see one diesel that had brass ones - real old thing that ran at about 5-600 RPM. The lead is there for a reason and 10 miles of break in is not it.
