I always thought the poop-pop-fart sounds at idle were a normal byproduct of a flat head, but it all went away when I replaced a bad head gasket. Now I wonder whether a slight HG leak would allow enough hot gas through to ignite the adjacent cylinder, but not show as low compression. Whadda yall think?
