Epoxy & polyerethane is good in that it can often be applied to bare steel & even prefers a slight blume of rust. I would definitely find a satin clear...something with no sheen or it'll look very strange.
Personally I would use Endura but only because I know & trust it & it's cheaper than anything else at about $150/gallon. Everyone has their favorite....Imron would be my second choice but it's triple the price & not as good. PPG isn't anywhere nearly as durable as those 2 choices & way more expensive but easier to work with & way more forgiving.
