Have you tried adjusting the gear contact as stated in shop manual? It's very simple. You remove shims at the lower bearing cap and adjust the roller too as I remember. Mine was very sloppy. After proper adjustment it is much better. Let me know if you don't have shop manual I can send you a copy of pages on steering. Good Luck. Dave
