Flatfender Steering Boxes

Does anyone know where to get new or NOS parts for the steering box in a '49 flatfender PW? Mine's not too bad, but there is some significant slop there, and it would be nice to be able to replace the parts, or better yet, find a whole NOS steering box. Vintage Power Wagons didn't have them last time I checked, and they said that is one the the parts that very difficult to find.

Is there a suitable substitute that will be an easy fit to the vehicle without drilling new holes in the frame, or significantly changing the steering gear ratio?
