This is a Jeep question, but since I also have a '67 W300 I figured you guys wouldn't mind. I need a new under-seat fuel tank. JC Whitney has steel for $75, and polyethylene for $160. Another place I know that deals in Willys Jeep parts has steel for $200 and polyethylene for $135. These are 11-gallon tanks. A few questions: (1) There is a big difference in the price of the two steel tanks. What is a reasonable price? In what ways may the tanks be different, i.e. how can I tell if one tank is better than the other? For example, the JC Whitney add says "Reinforced heavy-gauge steel with electronically welded seams". Is that just advertising giberish or does it mean something? What should I look for in a steel tank? (2) What is the story on these polyethylene tanks? Obviously, they won't rust. But are they safe? Advantages/disadvantages over steel? What do you guys know about them? Thanks...
